Final Version
(I have labelled this final version however it may not be, I have received some feedback from the group and tutors and hope to implement a couple of changes if the time is available)
I am really pleased with how this animation turned out and would like to discuss here some elements.
The artistic style: The style I have chosen partly as a strategic move; I am not a very good animator, nor did I have the time to create a masterpiece that is over a minute long. It would have taken me the full amount of time for a quarter of the length of the story to refine it and make it realistic so as I stated in a previous post I went down the crude angle.
This is effective because it gives it an even stranger feeling to it, the whole thing is quite weird which is wonderful. I do thing the low frame rate is a negative, and doesn't add to the effect, however it simply wasn't possible to create a high frame rate animation of this length at my current skill level
I feel the use of colour is really effective and the group seemed to understand the ideas presented. The reaction was really positive.
The music was created by my friend Alice Sinclair with pointers from me. I explained what I wanted and she created it. Having a custom piece of music is really great as it works so perfectly and really adds to the creepy factor.
The editing has been used to create more sense of motion on the less interesting scenes. Doing a camera pan I discovered really increases the feeling that it is an animation of higher frame rate and quality than it otherwise has. I also had to learn how to create the effect of the bad film quality that you can see. Its not actually very hard to do but took a while to find the right resources to teach me how.
Im really happy with this outcome, I think it tells the story I set out to tell. I love animation, and if I was skilled enough I would become an animator.
