Animation Progress

Image
I began by doing the walk cycle which appears in scene 1 as shown in the storyboard. I then decided it would be best to create a rough of the entire animation before actually refining it. Above is the extremely rough version. By the time this animation is actually finished with all of the effects which im adding in post etc i expect it to be about double this length. I then refined the line art, as much as was reasonable within the time scale. In my final post I will discuss certain elements and why there are the way they are. For the interests of time I have reduced the number of frames and the complexity of the illustration. my number one concern is to tell the story in full, and this story requires colour in order to be told effectively, so I must make sure there is time for colouring this animation, that element cannot go unfinished. I am also a little anxious as I have never coloured an animation before, so its going to be a new learning experience and may have some r...

Storyboard

Image
The story board hopefully conveys what I am trying to tell effectively. Its not the most refined storyboard , but part of the whole style of this animation is going to be that its crude and unrefined. I am very inspired by David Firth who creates crude and creepy animations. He is self taught in animation and has used his lack of experience as a means to tell a unique story, instead of letting it be a negative. I am predicting the animation to last about a minute but Its very hard to tell at this stage. I will be creating it in adobe animate and colouring in photoshop. I plan on using some classical music of the period with an abrupt finish to go along with the story. There will be no talking or other sound effects.
